The new León is here. The arrival of the second generation León sees SEAT launch the third model in its all-new product line-up following on from the Altea and Toledo. The characteristic traits of the brand’s new model image are plain to see in both the Altea and Toledo and now the new Leon. The SEAT Salsa concept car unveiled in 2000 has been the inspiration for the Spanish manufacturer in terms of styling ever since, turning it into automotive reality. The launch of the new León renews the second of the mainstays of the new SEAT image, as the León and Altea have been christened by SEAT President, Dr. Andreas Schleef. It has resulted in an elegantly styled body that neatly blends the sporty image of a stunning coupé with five-door practicality. Out of all of the new-generation models from SEAT, it is the new León which comes closest to expressing the very ultimate in sportiness and innovative design, thereby reinforcing SEAT’s own intrinsic values within the Audi brand group.

The Salsa concept created in 2000 has become automotive reality in the form of the new SEAT León. The elegantly styled body, blends the sporty image of a coupé with five-door practicality, whilst emphasising the trademark “design to stir the emotions” which Walter de’Silva uses to define the styling concept for the latest generation of SEAT products. The new SEAT León joins the Ibiza and the Altea as the third pillar in the all-new SEAT. It is the latest model to be launched by the Spanish brand as part of its new generation of products since the Audi Brand Group was established in 2002. Even more importantly, out of all the new-generation models from SEAT, it is the León which expresses the ultimate in sportiness and innovative design, whilst building on the brand’s own values.

At a world premiere today at the Geneva Motor Show, SEAT unveiled the Leon Prototype, a vehicle that promotes the image of the future Leon generation while building on the sporty character of the current model. This new prototype also implements some of the concept features already seen in the acclaimed Salsa, a concept car exhibited originally at this same show in the year 2000. The Salsa presented a feasible and realistic vision of a new style for an automobile and SEAT conveyed the image that would identify future products of the Spanish brand. The arrival of the Altea and Toledo models last year was clear proof of this intent. Both automobiles reflected the exterior design of the Salsa with a new front and the elegant Dynamic Line, a stroke that covers the side of the car.

Today, SEAT introduces the new Toledo at the Paris Motor Show. This car represents a new way of interpreting a saloon, with more interior comfort, a large-capacity boot and greater versatility. The new Toledo, available from October, retains the essence of both its predecessors, combining the three-body concept and rear hatch of the first Toledo (in 1991) with the attractive design of the second model (in 1998). This was all achieved without giving up one of its most appealing user features : a large-capacity boot. Due to its size, features and versatility, the new Toledo is set to be the first family car: an attractive three-volume saloon, perfectly combining length with interior comfort.

The Paris Motor Show of 1984, was the venue for the international presentation of the SEAT Ibiza, a model which represented the determination of the Spanish brand to continue as an independent company, in the very competitive automotive industry. After starting on its own, by developing a new model range and building up a commercial network outside of Spain, SEAT initiated a remarkable effort in designing its first models at the Martorell Technical Centre. That is how the Ibiza was born, the first product entirely developed by SEAT, its audacity resulting in widespread admiration.
