SEAT is continuing its relentless 2010 new product offensive with another stylish and svelte newcomer to the Ibiza range. The Ibiza ST is the third silhouette to join the Spaniards’ supermini line-up and significantly expands SEAT’s presence in this important market segment. The new arrival from Martorell debuts with no fewer than five modern engines and an extensive array of equipment and new technologies. SEAT’s renowned design team, led by Luc Donckerwolke, has taken the highly functional concept of the Ibiza ST and clad it in the Spanish brand’s unique design language.  Despite the estate layout and generous load capacity the newcomer retains the youthful, sporty character of the rest of the Ibiza range.

SEAT is getting straight to the ‘point’ with a cheeky new advertising campaign which appears online, on TV and across the printed media from 19 December. The dramatic new ads see SEAT put a typically irreverent spin on the classical legend of Cupid, with a winged archer flying above the stunning new SEAT Ibiza Cupra and targeting people as they see the car for the first time. The heart-shaped arrows he fires cause everyone who sees the car to fall in love with it ‘ a natural reaction, of course, that’s already happening in SEAT showrooms across the country.

SEAT is showcasing the stunning IBZ Concept at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.  The star of the SEAT stand in Germany previews a new, family-sized version of the Ibiza that will make its debut in showrooms across Europe towards the middle of next year. Boasting a modern, tensioned silhouette, the concept car making its world debut at the IAA includes numerous distinctive exterior and interior design features, and benefits from cutting-edge technology for a gripping driving experience. Next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see a major expansion of SEAT’s ultra-green Ecomotive offering as the Spanish brand debuts low CO2 versions of the recently-revised Altea, Altea XL and Leon. The three newcomers, which join class-leading Ecomotive versions of the slick Ibiza supermini and practical Alhambra seven-seat MPV, are the latest offerings in the Spanish maker’s mission to produce among the world’s most environmentally responsible vehicles. All three new models feature significant economy-minded improvements to further boost their frugality and reduce harmful exhaust emissions.

SEAT is preparing to unveil its most potent model to date with next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show debut of the awesome new Leon Cupra R. The influential German show, opening to the public on 17 September, will see the official debut of the SEAT Leon fleet’s stunning new flagship which boasts a brutally powerful 265 PS 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine. SEAT is wowing the crowds at this week’s Barcelona International Motor Show with the debut of a road-ready version of its stunning Ibiza Bocanegra. Staying remarkably true to the headline-grabbing Bocanegra concept car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show a little over 12 months ago, the production version is today making its world debut at SEAT’s ‘home’ show. Boasting several unique, and dramatic, black styling elements at its nose – hence the Bocanegra name which translates as ‘black mouth’ in Spanish – the new iteration of today’s Ibiza is set to become one of the hottest superminis around.

SEAT is releasing first details of the forthcoming new Leon Cupra and Ibiza FR, two hot hatches that further strengthen the ’sporty’ gene which lies at the very core of the dynamic Spanish brand. Both cars are set to make their world debuts at the Barcelona Motor Show (9 to 17 May), with UK sales commencing around July for the Leon Cupra and September for the Ibiza FR.  Prices will be announced closer to their respective on-sale dates. Cupra is the hottest badge in the SEAT hierarchy and therefore the 240 PS TSI Leon version will, as before, sit above the Leon FR models that have already been unveiled (which have a choice of 2.0 TDI CR 170 PS or 2.0 TSI 211 PS engines).  Meanwhile, the Ibiza Cupra, which has already been previewed at the Paris Motor Show last year, will now be joined by this barely less swift FR TSI version.

In the week the new Exeo saloon and ST officially launch in UK showrooms, ambitious Spanish motor maker SEAT is underlining its intention to compete in other new sectors of the car market with first details of an exciting addition to the Ibiza line-up. The forthcoming Ibiza ST, illustrated here with a concept design sketch, is destined for UK showrooms next year and becomes the third distinct body style in the Ibiza model family – joining established big sellers the practical Ibiza 5dr and sporty Ibiza SC.
