The Audi Sport quattro has just turned 25 years of age. In 1983, the “Shorty”, as it was affectionately known, caused a sensation as the most powerful series-produced German car. It is thus logical that Audi Tradition will be represented at the 20th Techno Classica in Essen, Germany (from 26 to 30 March 2008) with the motto “25 years of Audi Sport quattro”. The five featured series-production vehicles will not be the only highlights on the Audi stand in Hall Seven. As a special feature, Audi Tradition will be presenting the latest addition to its own historic collection: the Audi Sport quattro Group B rally car. There are only five remaining examples of this race car worldwide. New from this year: Audi Tradition will now be offering a strictly limited edition (333 units) 1:43-scale model car of the year, the first of which can be purchased at the Techno Classica. In 2008 this is an Audi Sport quattro in orange.

Prices now confirmed for new Audi premium compact cabriolet which will reach the UK in good time for top-down motoring. The ideal antidote to the winter blues - the new Audi A3 Cabriolet - can be administered by Audi Centres from this week as the brand’s first premium compact class ‘open top’ opens for order in standard, Sport and S line trim with OTR prices ranging from £20,750 to £27,060. Deliveries will begin in May.

Audi is presenting a revolution in the top class - the first 12-cylinder diesel engine in a high-performance roadgoing sports car. The V12 TDI with a displacement of six liters powers a concept car based on the Audi R8. This unit generates a huge 500 hp and 1,000 Newton-meters (737.56 lb-ft) of torque. Audi is writing a new chapter in diesel technology with this power unit. Equipped with the expertise that Audi has built up through its motor sport activities, the R8 TDI Le Mans in Brilliant Red embodies superb road handling, pioneering technology and fascinating design.

‘Nautical interpretation’ for SUV design study which joins final production Q7 V12 TDI on the Audi stand in Switzerland. The world’s most powerful diesel-powered passenger car - the Audi Q7 V12 TDI - will use the Audi stand at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show (March 6th to 16th ) as a springboard to make the leap from one-off concept to fully fledged production model. The world debut of the final series production version of the 500PS, 1,000Nm TDI powerhouse that was first seen undergoing testing in 2006 also coincides with the unveiling of the Q7 coastline, a new design study based on the V12 TDI which is decked out internally following a nautical theme.

The new Audi A3 Cabriolet makes its World debut on Friday (30 Nov), the first ever premium compact class “open top” from Audi which will offer four engine options when it arrives on British roads next Spring. Powered by the world’s cleanest diesel engine, and combining the sun worshipping potential of a classic cabriolet with the mountain-scaling agility of a quattro-equipped ‘off-roader’, the Cross Cabriolet quattro could form the basis of a future SUV model from Audi.

Audi pays homage to Japan’s flair for miniaturisation this week with its new sub-compact metroproject quattro design study, which makes its debut on Press Day at the Tokyo Motor Show (October 24 - November 11, 2007). Condensing the premium quality, innovation and design progressiveness for which the Audi range is renowned into less than 4 metres of road space, the metroproject quattro could provide clues to the look and packaging of a future Audi sub-compact production car.
