Today, SEAT introduces the new Toledo at the Paris Motor Show. This car represents a new way of interpreting a saloon, with more interior comfort, a large-capacity boot and greater versatility. The new Toledo, available from October, retains the essence of both its predecessors, combining the three-body concept and rear hatch of the first Toledo (in 1991) with the attractive design of the second model (in 1998). This was all achieved without giving up one of its most appealing user features : a large-capacity boot. Due to its size, features and versatility, the new Toledo is set to be the first family car: an attractive three-volume saloon, perfectly combining length with interior comfort.
The second model of the “new SEAT”
The Toledo is, after the Altea, the second model in the new generation of SEAT models. Likewise conceived within the Audi brand group, this product conveys the image and features that identify the Spanish brand’s new models.
Thus, the new Toledo’s innovative and attractive design makes it stand out. Your eye is particularly drawn to the shape of the tailgate, the large front grille and the expressiveness of the headlights, and, at the sides, to the Dynamic Line, which begins in the curve of the front wheel arch and drops smoothly to the doors until it reaches the rear wheel.
Four and a half metres long and 1.77 meters wide, the new Toledo, thanks to its monovolume architecture and its 1.57 meters height, offers superior comfort compared to longer vehicles. Furthermore, it boasts a two-level storage boot with a capacity of over 500 litres.
“Bluetooth” and MP3 technologies
The “Bluetooth” technology is one of the new SEAT Toledo’s major innovations, which allows a standardized remote connection between different mobile devices. The main advantage of this technology is that it doesn’t require a physical connection between the mobile telephone and the vehicle to enjoy a complete hands-free system.
The new Toledo’s audio system integrates perfectly with the central dashboard console and offers, on top, a slot to insert a standard CD or one recorded in MP3 format.
Four engines
The new model comprises four engine versions, two petrol - 150 bhp (110 kW) 2.0 FSI and 102 bhp (75 kW) 1.6 - and two diesel - 140 bhp (103 kW) 2.0 TDI and 105 bhp (77 kW) 1.9 TDI.
The two most powerful engines - the two-litre FSI and TDI - combine with a six-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the former is available with automatic and sequential six-speed tiptronic transmission. The 2.0 TDI is available with the new six-speed DSG gearbox.
Cupra and FR ranges : sporty essentials
The Spanish brand is showcasing the sportiest of its cars at the Paris Motor Show: the Cupra and FR. Leading the first group is the 225 bhp Leon Cupra R, SEAT’s fastest, highest-performance production model.
Another model of the Cupra range also shown in Paris is the Ibiza Cupra, a 160 bhp 1.9 TDI model, the most powerful diesel in the brand’s history. Equally, the Ibiza Cupra offers the petrol version, equipped with a 180 bhp 1.8 20VT engine.
The SEAT stand will be displaying the sporty FR versions of the Ibiza and Leon as well. These two sports models showcased at the event are equipped with a diesel engine, the 130 bhp FR 1.9 TDI Ibiza FR and the 150 bhp 1.9 TDI Leon FR. The FR range is rounded off by two petrol versions: the 150 bhp 1.8 20VT Ibiza and the 180 bhp 1.8 20VT Leon.
Ibiza and Altea - separated by 20 years
The Spanish brand’s latest market release, the Altea, which started a new generation of models in 2004, is being displayed for the first time at the Paris Motor Show.
This is not the case with the Ibiza, which has been on display at every Paris Motor Show since 1984, the year it was first unveiled to an international public. Since this historical date, SEAT has manufactured over 3,300,000 Ibiza models.
The first Ibiza was manufactured in the now legendary SEAT factory of Zona Franca (Barcelona) on April 27th, 1984. This model, greatly admired for its bold design, was the first product completely developed by SEAT.
