The SEAT León showcases a sportier range with the recent addition to its offer of a new finish called Sport FR (Formula Racing). The León Sport FR features an attractive, standard equipment level, which is being proposed for the 180 hp (132 kW) 1.8 20VT and 150 hp (110 kW) 1.9 TDi engines, in both their front and four wheel drive versions.

This equipment level includes several elements from the previous León Cupra V6 version. The exterior features a prominent front bumper design, characterised by the horizontal symmetry of the six, engine cooling air vents, each one covered with a honeycomb mesh, which house the foglamps. The bumpers, rear spoiler, door sills, side moulding, rear mirror structures and door handles are all in body colour.

At first sight, these new versions are also identified by the letters “FR” (with the “F” in grey and the “R” in red), located on the front wings beneath the indicator repeaters, and the chromed tailpipe. Their sporty nature can also be seen on the exclusive, 17 inch bolted alloy rims, shod with 225/45 tyres and featuring five double spokes.

Exclusive equipment

Standard safety elements on the Sport FR finish include driver airbag and switchable passenger airbag, side airbags, ABS, TCS on the engines with front-wheel drive, ESP with “ADAM” (brake assistance system) on the 4 versions, and height adjustable front seatbelts with pyrotechnic pre-tensioners.

Standard elements of comfort on the new León Sport FR range include climatiser, on-board computer, front and rear power windows, sport seats, electric, heated door mirrors, remote controlled central locking, Aura radio CD sound system with 8 speakers, two-tone horn and 12 Volt socket in the boot, among others.

The passenger compartment of the León Sport FR also stands out with exclusive details such as the instrument panel dials with their white background and other touches of colour, for example the aluminium embellisher around the central console and the decorative rim on the gear lever knob.

ESP + ADAM = MORE safety

As mentioned earlier, the units featuring 4 traction are equipped with ESP and the “ADAM” system. This safety element, which is optional on versions with front-wheel drive for 511 €, is a sophisticated, state-of-the-art braking aid that activates itself in emergency conditions, guaranteeing more efficient braking.

By monitoring the pressure exerted on the brake pedal, the system recognises emergency situations and maintains the necessary pressure for ultimate braking efficiency, since the system increases pressure and takes full advantage of the servo-brake, so the driver and occupants can ride more safely.

Options for added attraction

The list of optional features includes an attractive seat package with leather/Alcantara upholstery, with lumbar adjustment and electric positioning on the front seats and electric door mirrors with park position.

Other optional elements on the FR versions are volumetric alarm, ESP for both front-wheel drive engines, standard navigation system, electric sunroof, 6 CD loader in the glove compartment, telephone pre-installation and rain sensing wipers.

Besides, the new dynamic navigation system is also available, which transmits information via symbols and reads both music and map CDs.

From 211 to nearly 230 km/h

If the description of the León Sport FR sounds promising, its performance matches its expectations. Starting at a top speed of 211 km/h with the total traction 150 hp TDi, this new range reaches just under 230 km/h with the 180 hp petrol engine.

Regarding consumption values, the engine that logically requires less fuel is the front-wheel drive 150 hp 1.9 TDi, which only needs 4.3 litres of Diesel fuel to cover 100 km over the extra urban cycle.
